OFFICE POLICY

Massage Treatments: It is important that both the client and the therapist have a clear understanding of the massage therapy policies and procedures.

As a new client you need to be informed about Massage Therapy policies in order to provide informed consent prior to the massage session. Kisha massages holds these policies and procedures to a very high standard and therefore have posted them on our website for your convenience.

Appointments: Massage appointments are by appointment only. In order to obtain your desired appointment I recommend scheduling as far in advance to ensure availability. Online booking is available for your convenience at kishamassages.com/services

I put out 2-3 months worth of appointments out at a time. If you get online and see nothing available, you can keep checking from time to time as cancelations happen and the schedule will reflect my availability. You can also get on my waitlist by email or texting. I send out an email once the schedule is open and available for booking.

Payments: Payment will be made at the time of service. Acceptable forms of payment include cash and all major credit cards. At this time, I do not accept insurance from medical providers. A detailed receipt for services rendered is available upon request should you wish to submit it to your insurance company for reimbursement. A credit card is required to keep on file.

Cancelation/No show policy: I understand that unanticipated events occur in everyone’s life. Unforeseen events such as car problems, business meetings, illnesses and prior obligations are just a few reasons why one might consider cancelling a massage appointment. However, I ask that you call or text if you cannot keep your appointment as soon as you can.

Clients who fail to no show for appointments will be charged the *fee to the credit card on file. You may also be asked to pre-pay or put a deposit for future services if continuous last minute cancelations or rescheduling occurs. When you miss an appointment, it means that another potential patient could have scheduled a session to be seen at the same time. Each appointment time is exclusively reserved ahead of time just for you. I value your business and I ask that you respect the office scheduling policy’s.

*Cancelations under 24 hours notice will be charged 50 percent of the session fee to the card on file.

*For 2 hour sessions please allow for 48 hours to cancel or reschedule to allow adequate time for others to schedule or late cancelation fee may apply.

* Anyone who either forgets or chooses to forego their appointment are considered “no shows” and will be charged 100 percent of the session fee to the card on file.

Late Arrival Policy: I regret that late arrivals may not receive extension of scheduled appointments. The massage session begins and ends at the scheduled time.  Sessions that begin late due to the client arriving late will end at the scheduled time and remain at the full price. If you arrive 15mins or later without calling you will be considered a NO SHOW and you will be charged and/or shall forfeit any gift certificate or pre-paids. Kisha Massages will make an attempt to contact the client, if no answer, we will leave a message and your scheduled time will be released for rebooking.

If the massage therapist is late for the appointment or running behind, the client will still receive their full treatment.

Sickness Policy: Kisha Massages recognizes that both massage therapists and clients are vulnerable to infections and therefore ask clients to cancel appointments when they are feeling unwell. If the therapist is feeling unwell, they will communicate to you about rescheduling.  If you have any of the following contagious illnesses the massage sessions will be rescheduled: Diarrhea, Vomiting, Fever, Chicken Pox, Measles, Mumps, Meningitis, hepatitis A, Conjunctivitis, Rubella, Head Lice, Impetigo, Influenza, Meningococcal Disease, Polio, Ringworm of the body, feet or scalp, Scabies, Thrush, Whooping cough, Covid-19 and the common cold.

RESPECT OF CLIENTS BOUNDARIES: In this partnership, it is important that the client is honest and open with the massage therapist.  Feedback about the effectiveness of the work, situation that may have felt uncomfortable for you, massage techniques that you enjoyed, massage techniques that you did not like, etc., is very important. Examples:

Is there a body area that you would like me to avoid?

Would you prefer that I not use a certain type of oil or cream?

Do you or do you not enjoy music during the massage? What type?

Do you need the temperature on the table or room changed?

What will make you feel the most comfortable for your healing experience?

Do I need to shift my pace, pressure, energy or direction I’m working the tissue? You have permission to tell me as many times as needed to achieve the results you’re looking for.

Please feel free to share this information with me, as you become aware of it. As many times as needed.

Respect for client’s boundaries is very important.  To maintain respect for each client and establish professional boundaries the following massage therapy policies apply:

The client may choose to leave on as much clothing as needed for comfort.

You may choose to talk or not talk during your treatment.

The therapist will check in from time to time to make sure that you’re comfortable and to get feedback on what they may be finding in the body.

The client will always be modestly draped.  Only the area being massaged with be undraped.  The clients will be kept informed of the area to be massaged.

Craniosacral, visceral manipulation and lymphatic drainage can all be done with full set of clothes on.

Requests for sexual activity will NOT be tolerated, will be viewed as solicitation, and reported to the authorities under the guidelines of the massage therapy policies and procedures.  The client will NOT be rescheduled if this occurs.

The therapy room door is never locked. The front door always is, to ensure our safety while we are in the room. It is accessible to unlock it to let yourself out at anytime.

The client may stop the massage at any time and is free to leave.

SCOPE OF PRACTICE: Therapeutic massage is intended to be a health enhancing system that promotes body balance and efficient body function.

Massage stimulates the natural restorative processes of the body and mechanically reduces muscle tension.

These methods may not be used to diagnose or treat any specific, preexisting condition without written permission from your physician.

If any situation that may arise during the massage session and if the therapist feels you should be evaluated by another professional - it is our intent at Kisha Massages and under the massage therapy policies to refer you to your personal health care physician.

Massage therapists do not work within the parameters of licensed medical Professional.  Therefore, massage therapist do not diagnose or prescribe for a particular body dysfunction nor are they allowed to provide treatment for a specific condition.

Massage therapy is a maintenance system, and the benefits are cumulative.  It is best to receive a one-hour massage every 1- 4 weeks to reduce the physical stress that builds in the body. Occasional appointments provide temporary symptomatic relief, but the cumulative effects of therapeutic massage are lost if massage therapy is not used on a regular basis.

INFORMED CONSENT:  The intake session provides time for the massage therapist to discuss each section of the massage therapy policies contained in this website.

Prior to each massage session, the treatment plan will be discussed with you.  At your first contact you will be emailed our intake, policy and procedures and your signature on the consent form will acknowledge that you have done so and agree with and agree to comply with the professional massage therapy policies and procedure.

CONFIDENTIALITY AND CONVERSATION: The discussion between the massage therapist and the client is confidential. The client may or may not choose to talk during the massage. We are happy to listen to your conversation and share our professional expertise. We may be required to release records under a court order, or to your doctor.

EXISTING AND NEW MEDICAL CONDITIONS: It is the responsibility of the client to keep the massage therapist informed of any medical treatment currently being taken, and to provide written permission from the physician, chiropractor, physical therapist, etc., that the massage may be continued.

The client must also keep the massage therapist informed of any changes in health conditions.
